It’s nice to win a Grammy, CMA or ACM award, but this week Texan George Strait can add another accolade to his Wiki page; George has been named the ‘2018 Texan of the Year,’ given primarily for his charitable work for supporting the victims in Texas of Hurricane Harvey earlier in the year. George put together projects and benefits that raised over $50 million dollars for hurricane survivors. In particular, his September 12th benefit concert raised millions and included special guests Lyle Lovett, Chris Stapleton, and Miranda Lambert. The event was recorded and aired on multiple networks a week later.
We’re pretty sure George was humbled upon hearing the news; he’s always been a proud Texan. The award will be presented to George personally on Thursday, March 22nd, 2018 at the ‘Texan of the Year’ ceremony. A fan reception at the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center will follow the ceremony.
