Elton John’s Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace will end in May of 2018. In the time Elton’s been a semi-permeant performer at the venue, he’s made millions of dollars while living a relatively normal life. As the marriage of Elton and Caesars Palace has proven to be mutually beneficial, the next logical step would be to quickly book another super group or performer to take Elton’s place. How about the Who?
Here’s why the Who signing on for a lengthy residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace makes perfect sense. The band has wide fan appeal, having been around for 50+ years. Their discography includes many familiar hit singles. Both Roger and Pete are big picture guys; from the musical of Tommy to merchandising, these guys know how to build a brand. The money is right, and getting off the road is desirable. Finally, the Who are consummate entertainers, knowing what fans want.
