The 2017 AMA Awards were held last night in Los Angles, and the night was filled with surprises, a few laughs, and surprisingly very little political commentary. The festivities were hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, who helped honor her mother Diana Ross with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Kelly Clarkson and pop star P!nk kicked the night off with their rendition of “Everybody Hurts” by R.E.M. Bruno Mars was the big winner of the night walking away with seven total awards. As for the awards won by rockers and the rock specific awards…
The Tour of the Year went to Coldplay, while the Imagine Dragons earned Favorite Duo or Group in the Pop/Rock category.
The year’s Favorite Artist in the Alternative Rock category went to Linkin Park, which was a touching tribute to their late lead singer Chester Bennington who died earlier this year. The remaining members lifted the award to the heavens and dedicated the award to their fallen comrade.
