The 51st Annual CMA’s are tonight 8 pm, EST on ABC, hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. Yes, anything can happen on live TV; that’s one of the reasons we watch live award show, you never know what’s going to happen. Let’s take a look back at a few ‘most talked about’ moments from previous CMA’s…
In 1975 Charlie Rich read the ‘Entertainer of the Year’ while setting fire to the ballot for some reason. The winner John Denver received the actual burnt ballot, but they banned Charlie from future award shows.
In 2009 Taylor Swift became the youngest to ever win the ‘Entertainer of the Year’ award, while Shania Twain broke a 13-year all-male winning streak for ‘Entertainer of the Year’ in 1999.
In one of the most embarrassing moments in all of live TV, who could forget the worst reaction of not winning by Faith Hill? In 2006 Faith and a list of other nominees for ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ were all shown on split screens as the winner was announced; Faith’s reaction was, well, not very ladylike, and on live TV no less.
