Talking About the Man Responsible for the Beatles

George Martin is the man sole responsible for the success of the Beatles, so it’s not a stretch to say that without George, the music we enjoy today may be entirely different.

Author and Beatles expert Kenneth Womack is finishing up an autobiography that completely details the genius of George Martin, due in September, called ‘Maximum Volume: The Life of Beatles Producer George Martin.’ He’s also written ‘Long and Winding Roads: The Evolving Artistry of The Beatles,’ and ‘The Beatles Encyclopedia: Everything Fab Four.’

The very first records George produced were comedy and novelty discs; Peter Sellers and Anthony Hopkins were his first projects. George was talked into listening to a session tape of the Beatles from 1962; his first impressions were not favorable.

George Martin also worked with and produced for Jeff Beck, Neil Sedaka, Elton John, Kenny Rogers, The Little River Band, Cheap Trick, Celine Dion, and Pete Townshend.
