Disco dominated the music scene for nearly a decade until nature took over and began to thin the herd, eventually rubbing out Disco by the late 70s and early 80s. Here are some of our favorite Disco hits from back in the day…
“Le Freak” by Chic introduced Nile Rogers and Bernard Evans to the forefront of music, enabling each to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in the 2016 class.
“Disco Inferno” by The Tramps from the Saturday Night movie was a fun raucous song that brought funk and disco together like peanut butter and chocolate.
“Get Down Tonight” by KC and the Sunshine Band was another great song from a horn heavy group that made them a staple of club bands played in the 70s.
“The Hustle” by Van McCoy was a solo song from one of the most talented producers of our time. Van later went on to produce Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, The temptations and more.
“Night Fever” by the Bee Gees was actually a filler song to be added to the album in concert with the movie ‘Saturday Night Fever. A video of the song being recorded was also recorded by the Bee Gees in 1978, although it didn’t surface till 2004.
