This weekend, make it date night or an evening with the family, as Hollywood will bring its tinsel town magic to your neighborhood theater. Do you remember the television series ‘Baywatch’ with David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson and Yasmine Bleeth? If so, you’ll love ‘Baywatch’ (an old friend) on the silver screen with Dwayne Johnson and heart throb Zac Efron. This rendition is a bit comedic, but does have a serious side. This film is well worth going back to the sand and surf. Johnny Depp is back in the latest installment of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, there’s a documentary about the unknown history of Cuba music, and a film starring Mary McCormack about drones.
Our pick of the week is called ‘The Long Strange Trip,’ a Grateful Dead documentary that will pull the curtain back on one of the most interesting musical forces from the 60s. What’s odd is that although the band members were hippies and dropouts, they generated a billion dollar business that is still paying dividends today.
Enjoy the movies this weekend, we always do!

The language prevents us from sharing the preview however.

Long Strange Trip (2017)
(R) 238 min – Documentary
Director: Amir Bar-Lev
Stars: Tom Constanten, Jerry Garcia, Donna Godchaux, Keith Godchaux
The Grateful Dead began as a band of hippies that wanted to play their kind of music. They represented the ‘counter-culture’ in many ways, never advertising their upcoming concert, never looking at the music business the way their peers did. They did however, outlast almost tall of them. This documentary takes you back to the early days of the 60s and 70s protest movements, with never seen or heard before interviews and music. If you’re a Dead Head, this is the only movie that will matter. [watch trailer]
