Molly Hatchet original member and bassist Banner Thomas died a few days ago at the age of 63. Other deaths this year include the Beatles’ ‘Magic Alex,’ Steve Wright of the Greg Kihn Band, The Allan Brothers Butch Trucks, James Cotton, Chuck Berry, Boston’s Sib Hashian (Bostons original drummer), J. Geils, and John Wetton from King Crimson.
Former Journey front man Steve Perry announced that he’s going to be releasing a new album this year, his latest since 2003. Steve appeared with the band at the April 7th Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, but did not perform with the band that night.
Stevie Wonder announced last week that he’s going to wed for the 3rd time, a woman whom he’s had a few children with. Stevie, 66, will wed 42 year-old Tomeeka Bracy in Jamaica on June 17th.
A new biopic about the late Freddie Mercury of Queen is schedule to be released this year, providing rare footage of the band, the music, and the journey of Freddie.
