The 2016-2017 season is complete and for the third season in a row the Golden State Warriors lead the NBA with the best record. Their 67-15 record is clearly the best in the NBA with the Spurs finishing more than a few games behind the Warriors.
This fantastic season from the Warriors should come as no surprise. With their loaded roster, it’s almost a surprise they didn’t win more games. Kevin Durant’s injury certainly did not help their cause, but they didn’t skip a beat when he went down.
Steph Curry led the charge with 25.3 points per game, while Durant ends 2017 with 25.1 points per game. He led the team with 8.3 rebounds even though he is their small forward. The Warriors play small for the most part, so this was almost to be expected. Just last season he averaged 8.2 rebounds per game with the Thunder.
Draymond Green was a defensive star for the Warriors averaging 2.0 steals per game. He also led the team with 7.0 assists per game. He’s an “undersized” power forward, but his athleticism and length more than makes up for his 6’7, 230lb frame.
Will the Warriors head back to the NBA Finals this season? We certainly think they have a great shot at it!
