The Great Motown Members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The 32nd Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held this Friday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn April 7th. The 2017 inductees are Yes, Joan Baez, Electric Light Orchestra, Journey (finally), Pearl Jam, and Tupac Shakur.

Motown is greatly represented by the many artists that have been inducted into the hallowed ground, more than any ‘sound’ in our music history. Check out the Motown artists that are in the Hall…

Aretha Franklin
Stevie Wonder
Supremes
Michael Jackson
Martha Reeves and the Vandellas
Jackson 5
Four Tops
Gladys Knight and the Pips
James Brown
Berry Gordy Jr. (Motown founder)
Marvin Gaye
Jackie Wilson
Smokey Robinson

Conclusions: Where would these musicians be if Berry Gordy had not borrowed $800 to start his new record label, Motown Records? We now know that the foundation of rock is and will always be from the soul.
