Movies Opening This Weekend – March 24th, 2017 [videos]

Hollywood will frighten and delight you this weekend; comedy and horror dominate the weekend choices. Woody Harrelson, Michael Peña, Dax Shepard, and a few rising stars will entertain and cajole you. If you were a fan of the TV series ‘Chips’ (California Highway Patrol) then you’ll love the movie version ‘CHIPS’ starring Michael Peña, Dax Shepard, Jessica McNamee, and Adam Brody. This movie will not win an Oscar, but it will make you laugh.

‘Slamma Jamma’ is an interesting drama about a young basketball star, mistakenly sent to prison; he discovers his ticket out is winning a national slam dunk contest. ‘Life’ is the latest space movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal. It’s beautiful and warm to the senses.

Our pick of the week is a British film called ‘The Leveling,’ a touching story of a woman who returns home to bury her dear brother, only to discover the real reasons her father is empty hearted and how her brother died. This film will tug at your heartstrings.

Wilson (2017)

A middle-aged man journeys back to meet his teenage daughter for the first time, realizing the damage done to his failed marriage. If you like filthy language, adult humor, and Woody Harrelson, then you’ll love this movie. Think vintage Woody meets the 70s classic movie ‘Ordinary People.

CHIPS (2017)

What can we say? If you were a fan of the TV show CHIPS from the 70s, your wait for the movie is over! The stories of love, laughter, danger and redemption are all on display on the freeways of Los Angeles. The chemistry between actors Michael Pena and Dax Shepard is worth the price of admission. Prevenge (2016

This film is the most daring of all the opening movies this weekend. A woman who is seven months pregnant believes her unborn child is calling the shots. The problem is the unborn child wants to kill people. If you’re currently with child you may want to wait to see this film.[watch trailer]
