Oscar nominations for ‘Best Song from a Motion Picture,’ means they are original words and music specifically written for the movie. The song must be used during the movie itself, or the very first song at the credits.
Pink, Ryan Tedder, Adam Levine, Imagine Dragons Sia, Justin Timberlake, Hozier, Jessie J, One Republic’s have all made the list of songs to be considered for such an honor.

Ryan Tedder’s “Faith” from the animated film Sing
Sia, who has multiple songs up for consideration, including “Angel by the Wings” from The Eagle Huntress, “Never Give Up” from Lion and “Waving Goodbye” from The Neon Demon.
The nominations for the 89th Oscars are expected to be announced January 24, while the award show is scheduled for February 26 on ABC.
