Looking at College Basketball’s Top 25

The college basketball season is about halfway complete and with the college football season complete, it’s time to focus more on college hoops. The top 25 comes out every week and the most recent rankings are quite interesting. We see many of the typical names in college hoops on the list with a few surprises mixed in there.

The number one team is Baylor, as they come into this week with a 15-0 ranking. They are the clear number one according to the AP Top 25 poll with almost a 100-point lead over the number two team, Kansas. The Jayhawks come into this week with a 14-1 record. They received eight first place votes to Baylor’s 55. Villanova and UCLA both received one number one vote and are ranked three and four.

A few smaller schools to be on the list include Creighton at number eight, Butler at 12, Xavier at 15 and Saint Mary’s at 21. These schools might be smaller than teams like UCLA and North Carolina, but they can ball with the best of them.
