The BBC Music Awards occurred earlier this week and there were two alternative rock bands that had a great night. The event was hosted by Claudia Winkleman, Gemma Cairney and Fearne Cotton and took place at ExCel London.
Coldplay and The 1975 were both up for big awards on the night and they each won one award. The 1975 won the BBC Rdio 1 Live Lounge Performance of the Year, beating out big names like Usher, Craig David and Emeli Sande. Coldplay was up for the BBC Music British Artist of the Year award and would win it! The band beat out Adele, Jess Glynne, David Bowie and Calvin Harris. Coldplay was also up for the BBC Radio 2 Album of the Year and BBC Music Awards 2016 Song of the Year awards, but lost out to Adele in both.
