The MLB Winter Meetings have begun and the moves are already being made. Trades and big signings have already happened and we don’t want to let them go unnoticed. Let’s talk about who has signed where and what teams have made moves already.
The biggest deal of the day had to come from the Boston Red Sox. They sent Yoan Moncada and three other prospects to the White Sox in return for Chris Sale. That wasn’t the only trade they made Tuesday though. The Brewers and Red Sox made a trade Tuesday morning. The Brewers sent reliever Tyler Thornburg to the Red Sox for Tyler Shaw, Josh Pennington and one other prospect.
Mark Melancon might be the biggest signing so far this week. He signed a four year/$62 million deal to be the closer of the San Francisco Giants.
Rich Hill also signed a lucrative deal to pitch for an NL West team. He committed to a three year, $48 million deal to pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Big names like Andrew McCutcheon and Chris Sale have been offered up this week, but nobody has pulled the trigger on a major trade for them. We’ll report back with more when we learn of the next big move!
