Memphis’ Unique Hall of Fame and Its Members

There are many Halls of Fame. There’s the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH (the Cooperstown of Halls) and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, among many others. Did you know that most states have ‘Halls’ to recognize their native sons? Rarely are there Hall of Fames dedicated to cities… Among the short list of Halls in cities, there is perhaps no more significant ‘City’ hall of fame than Memphis; let’s face it, from the blues to Elvis this city stands above most.

Recently inducted stars were Justin Timberlake, Charlie Rich, Sam and Dave, Al Jackson Jr and Alberta Hunter, ZZ Top, Sam Phillips, obviously Elvis, Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, Jerry Lee Lewis, Al Green, Booker T. and the MGs, Big Star. Each of these new members deserves to be in the Memphis Music Hall of Fame.

The Memphis Music Hall of Fame is open each day beginning at 10am, and admission is reasonable for those that want to take in sites. Visit the hall online at memphismusichalloffame.com or call (901) 205-2532 for more info.
