The 2016 season has given us some outstanding performers at the pitcher position, but there are only two Cy Young award winners. The announcement was made as to who they would be and honestly it wasn’t all that surprising. Both winners were more than deserving.
From the National League, Max Scherzer won the award. He had a 20-7 recored with a 2.96 ERA. Considering Clayton Kershaw didn’t pitch the entire season, this was an easy choice. He struck out 20 in one game this season and led the MLB in strikeouts with an astonishing 284 strikeouts!
From the American League, Rick Porcello took home the hardware. The Red Sox pitcher had 22 wins to just four losses and sported a 3.15 ERA. He was one of the big reasons why the Red Sox made it to the playoffs.
