Previewing MLB’s Free Agency

MLB’s offseason is upon us and pretty soon free agents will be signing on the dotted line with new teams. There are enough big names to get excited about in this class although we might get more excitement over offseason trades than signings. Let’s take a look at where Jose Bautista, Yoenis Cespedes and Aroldis Chapman could end up next season.

Jose Bautista is getting up there in age, but he’s been a force to be reckoned with over the past few seasons. He only played in 116 games last season, but he’s hit over 200 home runs since 2010. Those numbers are hard to find anywhere meaning he’ll be a hot commodity this offseason. We think he’ll be heading back to Toronto on a three-year deal.

Yoenis Cespedes opted out of his contract with the New York Mets and has become a free agent for a second year in a row. He hit 31 home runs in 132 games this past season, an amazing feat for any hitter. He’s likely to be the most wanted players this offseason and we think he ends up with the Nationals or Giants.

Aroldis Chapman was traded at the trade deadline last season and has now become a free agent this season. We think this hard throwing lefty will be heading back to New York to play for the Yankees in 2017 on a rather large deal. Many think he can earn close to $100 million with this deal.
