Some Light Fall Reading

If you get a chance this fall, take a look at the latest books that are written about your favorite msuic – and best of all might make good stocking stuffers.

‘The 100 Greatest Bands of All Time: A Guide to the Legends’ is a 1,000+ page book of details, fun facts, photos and great info on the best bands ever. This book pays particular attention to soulful rock groups.

Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and many others left his earth at the age of 27. Author Howard Sounes dives deep into the deaths of those that died at the age of 27, which sadly now includes Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain. This is a fascinating read. The book is called ‘27: A History of the 27 Club Through the Lives of Brian.’

Gregg Allman bristled at being called ‘Mr. Cher’ (he had been married to the singer for a brief period of time) but has lived a full life, rich with stories. ‘Gregg Allman – My Cross to Bear’ reveals Gregg Allman’s struggles with addition, the demands of being a rock star, and depression over the years.

Other books to look for are ‘1965: The Most Revolutionary Year in Music,’ ‘The Art of the Album Cover: A History and a How-To,’ our choice for checking out the colorful album covers over the years.
