The nominees for the 2017 Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame was announced last week, and still no Doobie Brothers?
Although the Doobies were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004, the boys in the band have yet to be admitted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. The Doobie Brothers are perhaps the best Pop/Rock band of all time, beginning their musical journey in the early 70s with Tom Johnston, Patrick Simmons, John Hartman, and Dave Shogren. The band then added another drummer, Michael Hossack in late 1971.
With great radio and chart success, they remained stable until Tom Johnston’s bleeding ulcer in the spring of 1975 forced the band to find another musician who could write hit songs and become the lead vocalist. Enter Michel McDonald. Believe it or not, the band is still out on tour pleasing their fans. With all of this said, it’s hard to comprehend that the Doobie Brothers are not yet in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
The band is out on tour and luckily for us all, they have some upcoming dates…
November 11th, St. Augustine, FL
November 12th, St. Petrsburg, FL
November 13th, Ft. Lauderdale, FL
November 16th, Orlando, FL
November 18th, Columbus, GA
