Predicting College Football’s Four Playoff Teams

Every year we have fun picking who will be the team’s in the National Championship and who will be the one to surprise us the most. This is still the same and will likely come in the upcoming days, but one new prediction we’ve been able to make the last few years is who will be the “final four” teams remaining when the dust settles. When talking about the first games of the college football season, we talked about a few we think have a shot to make it that far.

Florida State has a tough schedule to start, facing off against Ole Miss, but they have the talent to make it through that tough SEC test. The biggest test of the season might come when they face preseason ranked number two Clemson, but they have plenty of time to get into the full swing of things by then as they play in late October.

Alabama should always be considered a favorite headed into the season and even though they’ll have a brand new quarterback and running back, that hasn’t stopped them before. They have plenty of talent at wide receiver and should always have a top tier defense.

Michigan has the talent and now the coaching to make a move into the top four teams by season’s end. They’ll have to get past Ohio State and Michigan State to do so, something they haven’t done in what feels like forever to do so though. Michigan will be relying on many of the same things as Alabama: great receivers, great defense and newcomers at quarterback and running back.

The fourth and final team to make the playoff in our opinion will be Notre Dame. Many fear that they will struggle because “when you have two quarterbacks you have none,” but we don’t think so. This depth will surely help them by season’s end and both have proven to be elite talents under center.
