Giancarlo Stanton Out for the Season

It was recently announced that Giancarlo Stanton, the Miami Marlins slugger, will be out for the season because of a groin injury that is just too severe to come back before the end of the season. While the Marlins got the win on Sunday, it’s this kind of news that has Marlins fans not feeling great about their playoff chances. The Marlins are just half a game back of the final wild card spot as of Sunday morning, but now that deficit feels much bigger.

On the season, Stanton is hitting .244 with 25 home runs and 70 RBI. The line might not look too sexy, but you must remember that for about a month, he was quite possibly the worst hitter on the planet. In July, he hit .305 and in August he hit .244. This is a huge blow for the potential playoff Marlins, but they’ll keep fighting as hard as they can to prove the naysayers wrong.
