Michael Phelps’ Wildly Famous Stare Down

It was Monday night when Michael Phelps put together one of the scariest moments of his Olympic career. The scary thing is that the situation didn’t even happen in the pool, but instead in the waiting/stretching room before the race. With South Africa’s Chad Le Clos dancing in front of him, Phelps unleashed a death stare unlike any before.

Phelps was clearly trying to get in the zone and we’d say it worked out quite well. The race he was preparing for was the 200-meter butterfly, which Phelps would qualify for the finals of.

Phelps won the gold medal in the 4 x 100-meter freestyle relay on Monday, a race where he swam second and did so with perfection. Tuesday night he would win the 200-meter breaststroke as well as the 4 x 200-meter freestyle relay.
