“We Belong Together” made its debut on the Perez Hilton web site last week, garnishing rave reviews. Harry Wayne “K.C.” Casey began his musical journey in the early 70s while working as a record store clerk and part time technician at a local suburban Miami recording studio. KC became friends with TK Records producer Richard Finch; the pair began to collaborate musically, and the magic began to happen.
The band hit the charts in the mid-70s with catchy tunes like “Keep it Coming Love,” “Get Down Tonight” and “That’s the Way (I Like It),” but eventually ran out of hooks and steam in the mid-80s, with a brief re-appearance in the early 90s.
Oddly, KC disappeared from the spotlight until, in 2012, Sunlife Insurance offered the band tons of money to get back together if they would change their name to ‘KC and the Sunlife Insurance Band’ kicking off a reunion tour. “No thanks” said KC and that brilliant idea never came to fruition.
KC and the Sunshine Band has released 13 albums while eventually selling over millions of records over a decade of performing. “We Belong Together” can be heard on the Perez Hilton web site if you want to hear the latest KC and the Sunshine offering.
