The Kennedy Center announced last week the selections of five well deserving honorees, receiving the prestigious 2016 Kennedy Center Honors. Short of the Presidential Medal of Honor, this award is the most desirable form of recognition any artist could imagine.
Mavis Staples, James Taylor, and the Eagles are the American musical inductees, while actor Al Pacino and Argentine pianist Martha Argerich will also be honored.
The event will take place on Sunday, December 4. It’s sad that the Eagles had been scheduled to receive this honor last Fall, but delayed the ceremony hoping Glenn Frey would recover from his gastric illness, and be in good shape for this year’s date. Glenn passed away earlier this year, although it’s likely a family member will be on hand to accept the award on his behalf.
The celebration will be held on Sunday, December 4 on the Kennedy Center Opera House stage,
