Paul Simon, Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen and other music icons will appear in a documentary focused on the complex, yet incredibly successful life, of longtime record executive Clive Davis. The Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir and Art Garfunkel are also in the expose. Here are a few fun facts about why we would ever be writing about a record executive.
Clive Davis became the President and CEO of Arista Records in the mid-70s, and is credited with either discovering or significantly shaping artists such as Barry Manilow, Rod Stewart Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and more.
Clive was the head of Columbia Records in the late 60s and early 70, but was fired for using company money to finance his sons bar mitzvah, a charge he never denied.
Although being married twice with four children, Clive revealed that he has been in a serious relationship with another man for nearly 15 years.
