Lionel Richie was born in Tuskegee, AL in 1949, staying home after graduation to accept a tennis scholarship to nearby Tuskegee Institute. School was not his thing, so he dropped out. The only going to college really did for him was his meeting other college kids who talked him into joining their band, the Commodores. The Commodores have sold over 100 million records, giving Lionel the courage and strength to leave for a solo career, where he enjoyed even more success. Lionel has earned Grammys, Billboard and Lifetime Achievement awards, plus he’s in the Song Writers Hall of Fame. He’s also on tour. Here are a few of his tour dates…
