Florida is the Sunshine State and is the perfect place for northern retirees who re-locate themselves to Orland, Boca, Jupiter and Ft. Meyers. Florida is also a huge contributor to rock and roll bands that have filled the airwaves with hit after hit. Here are more memorable bands and singers from the great state of Florida…

You might think Debbie Harry was born and raised in Manhattan given her uptown New York appeal, but Debbie is from Miami. After bleaching her hair and coming up with a business name, she moved to the big apple.

The Outlaws are from Tampa had considerable success with their popular singles “There Goes Another Love Song” and “Green Grass and High Tides,” The band began in the late 60s and continue to tour today.

The Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose are from Dania, Florida and had significant success in the late 60s and early 70s.

The Miami Sound Machine, Back Street Boys, and N’Sync were born in Orlando.

Molly Hatchet, Matchbox 20, 38 Special, Limp Bizkit, Jim Morrison, Gary US Bonds, Bertie Higgins, Carter Cornelius, Pat Boone, Claude “Butch” Trucks from the Allman Brothers are all from the state of Florida.
