Girls Just Wanna Have Country Fun!

The 80s proved to be an interesting time, both culturally and musically. MTV was beginning to take off, ESPN, the world’s first 24 hour all sports cable TV station was growing exponentially, and a ditzy blonde from Long Island, New York was on the charts. Little did we know that Cindi Lauper would return, this time on our favorite country radio station.

“Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” became the anthem of the oppressed teen young lady in the mid-80s, orchestrated by Long Island native. Well, now it appears “Girls Just Wanna Have – COUNTRY Fun” as Cindi has release her latest country album entitled ‘Detour,’ getting rave reviews form all spectrums of the business.

Cindi is not new to country music having recorded an earlier country album ‘Memphis Blues’ in 2010, but ‘Detour’ differs from most albums in that it was recorded entirely in Nashville, with the Nashville Cats (the legendary backup players) and includes guest vocalists Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, Vince Gill and Jewel.
