Who could that Tom Cruise Kelly McGillis scene, early in ‘Top Gun,’ when the song “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feeling” by the Righteous Brothers gives the actors a romantic moment that would live forever?

“Mrs. Robinson,” in the ‘Graduate’ opened the flood gates of new fans for Simon and Garfunkel. Paul had pitched Nichols two other songs which were dismissed, but there was something about this one that he loved.

Bob Seger’s “Shakedown” was a hit tune from the Eddie Murphy film ‘Beverley Hills Cop II,’ and brought Bob to Hollywood. The songs was perfect for the movie Most people don’t know that it was first recorded by fellow Detroiter Glenn Frey who didn’t like the lyrics, so he gave the song to Bob.
