NFL Draft’s Surprise First Round Predictions

The NFL Draft is just one day away! The event will occur Thursday night starting at 8pm and will last all the way though the weekend. The first round happens on Thursday and is the biggest pick we’ll see from each team and they must get it right. What we wanted to look at today are three picks that will surprise you in the first round.

Christian Hackenberg is the quarterback people are starting to heat up on and we would be more surprised if he didn’t get taken Thursday than if he did. He was a red hot player his freshman year, but offensive line protection and a change in coach unraveled things for him. We could see teams like the Chiefs and Broncos take him towards the end of the first round making him one of four quarterbacks taken.

Our second surprise is that Will Fuller will be the first receiver taken in this draft. Many thought it would be Laquon Treadwell, but a slow forty-time and no buzz coming out of his camp and slowed people’s roll on him. Fuller is a big time downfield threat and has some great speed. At the end of the day, Treadwell might not be taken until the third or fourth receiver is gone. Guys like Corey Coleman and Josh Doctson could easily be taken in front of Treadwell.

William Jackson III will be the first cornerback taken in this draft ahead of guys like Eli Apple, Vernon Hargreaves, and Mackensie Alexander. Jackson comes from the Houston Cougars and is a great athlete. He’ll for sure be taken in the first round after there wasn’t much buzz about him coming into the offseason and we think he could be the first one taken in the early teens of this draft.
