Remembering Garth Brooks at the BBMAs

We’ve been talking about the Billboard Music Awards all week, so why stop now? Let’s talk how these winners are determined and some previous winners…

The BBMAs are unique in that they are decided by numbers and not votes. The winner is decided by whoever has the most airplay, downloads, and sales in the United States according to Nielsen.

Who could forget Garth Brooks and his domination at the fourth annual Billboard Music Awards? The country star took home six awards, most at the event, including the Top Billboard 200 Album, Ropin’ The Wind.

His success didn’t just come in 1992 though. In total, he has won 17 times here, but none since 1998. Garth was nominated for Top Country Album in 2014 and Country Songs Artist of the Year in 2002, but didn’t come away with the win either time.
