76ers GM Sam Hinkie Walks Away

Just a few days ago, the Philadelphia 76ers’ GM, Sam Hinkie, decided to quit and walk away from this position. Hinkie was the “mastermind” behind the rebuilding process that is underway in Philadelphia, but has yet to yield any results. During his time as the GM, the team has gone 19-63, 18-64, and this season just 10-68.

While the 76ers have plenty of young talent like Nerlens Noel, Ish Smith, Jahlil Okafor, and Joel Embiid, not to mention could have up to four first round picks in the 2016 draft. Unfortunately, many believe that this upcoming draft is one of the weaker ones in year’s past.

The 76ers will have around $60 million in salary cap space to make some big moves, so the team could easily be turned around if put in good hands. The early favorite to take over the GM duties is Bryan Colangelo, a two-time NBA Executive of the Year.
