Love is the Answer

Love makes the world go round. Love is often the undercurrent of our favorite songs, but that’s not too surprising. In the 80s and 90s, there were hair bands, experimental groups, British singers and odds and ends, but love always found its way. What were the best ballads of the 80s and 90s? We took the time to break down many of the greatest love ballads of that time.

“In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins was a haunting love song that the TV series Miami Vice brought to fame by its use in one of its more serious episodes.

“Hello” by Lionel Richie proved to be one of Lionel’s best love songs with a simple concept – great lyrics and easy production values.

“Un-Break My Heart” by Toni Braxton is a rich soulful ballad that we can all relate to.

“Every Rose has its Thorn” by Poison brought millions of new fans to a hair band that frankly had little mass appeal prior to this tune.

“Everything I Do” by Bryan Adams reminded us that Canadians can rock. Bryan brought the ladies to the show and doubled ticket sales by virtue of beautiful ballads.

“Is This Love” by Whitesnake is the music video that took the MTV audience to new heights and made the girls swoon because of David Coverdale’s open shirt.
