Monday’s Music Headlines

“Monday Monday,” as the Mommas and Pappas used to sing, is here. Let’s start the week off right with some righteous music news headlines…

The Beach Boy’s Mike Love is writing his memoir, which is schedule to be out on newsstands in the fall, and has yet to have a working title. Mike hopes to pull back the curtain on the criticism that he’s either difficult to work with and that he’s a bad guy in general.

The story of KISS, an exhibition, has opened at the Morrison Hotel Gallery in Los Angeles featuring the many years of music, tours, and KISS artifacts. The exhibition will also feature Japaneese wood block prints from their Kiss + Ukiyo-e Project.

Although the Grammys were held a week ago, the family of the late Natalie Cole is still fuming about the lack of respect the Academy showed in the “In Memoriam” piece shown in the program. The family thought Natalie deserved more than simply being added to the stars that also passed away in 2015.

Birthdays this week include Aerosmith’s Oliver, The Grass Root’s David Stensen, Brad Whitford, Paul Jones from Manfred Mann, Joe South, Detroit’s very own Mitch Ryder, Journey’s Jonathan Cain, and Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones.
