It’s not every day we talk about specific college football players transferring schools, but when it’s a name like Barry Sanders involved with Oklahoma State then we’re going to bring it up. Yes, we’re talking about THAT Barry Sanders. His son, Barry Sanders Jr., will be transferring and it will be to his alma mater, Oklahoma State.
Barry Sanders, the father, quite possibly had the greatest season as a running back ever in 1988 at Ok State. He ran for 2,628 yards and 37 touchdowns before adding five more touchdowns in their bowl game. He won the Heisman in 1988 and the rest was history when he was drafted third overall by the Detroit Lions in 1989.
Barry Sanders Jr. has not had the career or even single season that his father had, but he has some positives going on for him. For one, he will be immediately eligble for the upcoming season as a graduate transfer. He also has been successful in his limited carries at Stanford during his first three seasons. He has averaged 5.8 yards per carry during his college career.
Only time will tell if Junior can be an impact player for Ok State in 2016, but their fans sure are happy to have him.
