Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award Fun Facts – Part One

The greatest recognition for any rocker is the attention you receive from your peers, and recently the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awards were announced, Run-D.M.C., Earth Wind and Fire, Jefferson Airplane, Herbie Hancock, and Linda Ronstadt will be honored at the upcoming ceremony. Let’s take a couple of days to showcase each upcoming honoree. Here is one fun fact from each…

Run D.M.C. is from Queens and is all about first – the first Hip-Hop group to have a gold album, the first Hip Hop to appear on MTV, American Bandstand, and on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, and the first to cross over into rock with their “Walk This Way” collaboration with Aerosmith.

Jefferson Airplane was a pioneer of the counterculture-era psychedelic rock in the 60s, and was inducted into the Rock “N Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. Grace Slick the former lead singer is an accomplish painter who recently told Fleetwood Mac and her Starship Buddies to retire, as (in her opinion) pretending to be a cool rocker at the age of 70+ is totally embarrassing.
