Skid Row is turning the page on another chapter of its storied career, officially welcoming Broadway performer Justin Sargent as the band’s new lead vocalist. The announcement comes with a fresh recording of a rock classic and plans to return to the concert stage in 2027.
Sargent brings an impressive theatrical background to the veteran hard rock group. His Broadway credits include Rock of Ages, Bonnie & Clyde, and Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. He has also performed in concert productions celebrating the music of Led Zeppelin, Def Leppard, and the Rolling Stones.
The decision to bring Sargent aboard followed several months of auditions, rehearsals, and conversations. According to bassist Rachel Bolan and guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo, the singer quickly established a strong connection with the musicians, impressing them with both his vocal power and his personality.
For Sargent, joining Skid Row represents an unexpected career milestone. Having performed the band’s music for years, he now has the opportunity to front the group whose songs have long been part of his repertoire.
To introduce their new musical partnership, Skid Row has recorded a version of The Who’s legendary 1971 anthem “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” The recording was produced by Nick Raskulinecz, who previously worked with the band on its 2022 album The Gang’s All Here.
The song will also receive a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl release on October 30, giving fans an early opportunity to hear the latest incarnation of the group.
Sargent’s arrival follows the departure of Erik Grönwall in 2024. Grönwall, who recorded The Gang’s All Here with Skid Row, stepped away to focus on treatment for leukemia.
The band’s history includes several notable changes behind the microphone. Following the 1996 departure of original frontman Sebastian Bach, Skid Row worked with Johnny Solinger, Tony Harnell, ZP Theart, and Grönwall before selecting Sargent.
Now, attention turns to the stage.
Skid Row’s upcoming concert schedule begins March 5, 2027, at The Show at Agua Caliente in Rancho Mirage, California. Additional performances are planned across the United States, along with an appearance in Ontario, Canada.
The group is also scheduled to perform at two major rock festivals, Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida, on May 9 and Sonic Temple in Columbus, Ohio, on May 14.
For a band whose history stretches back to the late 1980s, finding the right voice remains an important part of preserving its musical identity while moving forward.
With Sargent now handling lead vocals, a new recording ready for release, and a concert schedule taking shape, Skid Row is preparing to introduce another generation of its live sound to audiences.
The next chapter begins in 2027, when fans will have their first opportunity to see how the new lineup performs together.
