Jay-Z Set to Headline Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show in 2027

Jay-Z is preparing to take center stage at one of the world’s biggest entertainment events. The legendary rapper and music mogul has been confirmed as the headliner for the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, scheduled for February 14, 2027, near Los Angeles.

The announcement represents a significant milestone for the hip-hop icon, who has spent years helping shape the NFL’s halftime entertainment without stepping into the spotlight as its featured performer.

Through his entertainment company Roc Nation, Jay-Z has been closely involved with the Super Bowl halftime show since 2019. The partnership has helped bring some of music’s biggest stars to the event, including Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny.

Now, the man who helped put together the show will finally get his own turn.

The timing also carries special significance. Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, recently celebrated three decades since the release of his influential debut album, Reasonable Doubt, with two performances in Los Angeles. Those concerts took place at the same stadium scheduled to host the upcoming Super Bowl.

The anniversary has offered an opportunity to reflect on a career that began in the New York hip-hop scene and evolved into one of the most successful and influential stories in modern music.

From his early recordings to his emergence as a global entertainment executive, Jay-Z has built a legacy that extends far beyond the recording studio.

His accomplishments include 25 Grammy Awards, recognition as the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where he was inducted in 2021.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell welcomed the announcement, revealing that he had hoped Jay-Z would eventually perform at the championship game when the league first partnered with Roc Nation.

The upcoming show also creates an intriguing question for music fans: Who might join Jay-Z onstage?

BeyoncĂ©, his wife and one of the biggest performers in the world, is already being mentioned as a possible guest. Given Jay-Z’s extensive history of collaborations with major recording artists, the possibilities are considerable. However, no additional performers have been announced.

The Super Bowl halftime show has become an entertainment spectacle in its own right, attracting enormous audiences beyond traditional football fans.

Kendrick Lamar’s 2025 performance demonstrated that reach, setting a record as the most-watched halftime show in Super Bowl history and earning an Emmy Award for outstanding music direction.

For Jay-Z, the upcoming performance brings together his musical legacy and his role in shaping one of the industry’s most prominent stages.

After years of helping other artists deliver unforgettable Super Bowl moments, the spotlight will finally belong to him.
