Packers Dominate First Half, Defeat Cowboys 23-13 on Sunday Night Football

The Green Bay Packers continued their winning streak Sunday night, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 23-13 at Lambeau Field in a Week 6 matchup that highlighted two teams heading in very different directions.

Quarterback Jordan Love accounted for two touchdowns, while Green Bay’s defense forced two costly interceptions from Dak Prescott to help the Packers secure their third consecutive victory.

The win improved Green Bay’s record to 4-2, while Dallas fell to 2-4 following another disappointing performance.

The Packers wasted little time establishing control, opening the scoring when Love connected with wide receiver Matthew Golden on a 9-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter.

Green Bay continued to dictate the pace during the second quarter, extending its advantage with a 25-yard field goal from Trey Smack.

The Cowboys had opportunities to respond, but Prescott’s passing mistakes repeatedly disrupted promising possessions.

Packers safety Evan Williams intercepted Prescott near the goal line early in the second quarter, denying Dallas a potential scoring opportunity. Later in the half, cornerback Brandon Cisse recorded another interception, giving Green Bay additional momentum.

Love capitalized before halftime, scoring on a 1-yard quarterback sneak to send the Packers into the locker room with a commanding 17-0 advantage.

Dallas entered the second half needing an immediate response, and its offense finally showed signs of life.

Running back Javonte Williams capped a nine-play drive with a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, cutting Green Bay’s lead to 17-7.

However, the Packers answered with another Smack field goal, this time from 44 yards, restoring their 13-point advantage.

Green Bay’s defense remained effective as Dallas struggled to establish a consistent rushing attack. The Cowboys finished with just 48 rushing yards, placing additional pressure on Prescott and the passing game.

Prescott completed 34 of 54 attempts for 258 yards and one touchdown, but his two interceptions overshadowed his production.

Meanwhile, Love finished with 276 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception. Golden emerged as his most productive receiving target, collecting six catches for 104 yards and a touchdown.

Green Bay added a 29-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to extend its lead to 23-7, leaving Dallas with little time to mount a comeback.

The Cowboys managed one final touchdown when Prescott connected with Ryan Flournoy on a 6-yard scoring pass in the closing minute. An unsuccessful two-point conversion attempt left Dallas trailing by 10 points.

Although the final statistics showed a relatively narrow difference in total offensive yardage, Green Bay controlled the game’s most important moments.

The Packers finished with 318 total yards compared with Dallas’ 303, but their ability to convert third downs and capitalize on turnovers made the difference.

Green Bay converted 11 of 18 third-down opportunities, while Dallas managed five conversions on 13 attempts.

For the Packers, the victory represents another positive step following an uneven start to the season. Three consecutive wins have strengthened their position in the NFC playoff race.

For Dallas, the loss raises further questions about an offense that has struggled to protect the football and maintain balance.

With the season approaching its midpoint, the Cowboys face increasing pressure to correct those problems before their playoff hopes begin slipping away.

Green Bay, meanwhile, can move forward with growing confidence after another victory built on timely offense, defensive execution and the ability to take advantage of an opponent’s mistakes.
