Taylor Swift’s “Patient Zero” Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Global Charts

Taylor Swift has another worldwide chart heavyweight on her hands, with “Patient Zero” making its entrance at No. 1 on both of Billboard’s major global song rankings.

The single debuted atop the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts dated Oct. 10, giving Swift another pair of major milestones in a career that has become increasingly difficult to summarize without reaching for the record book.

“Patient Zero” generated 70.7 million streams and 80,000 sales worldwide during the Sept. 25 through Oct. 1 tracking period.

The debut gives Swift her eighth No. 1 on the Global 200, putting her alongside BTS for the most chart-toppers since the ranking was introduced in 2020.

Her performance outside the United States produced another distinction. “Patient Zero” becomes Swift’s fifth leader on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, giving her the most No. 1 songs among solo artists on that ranking. She had previously been tied with Bad Bunny and Ariana Grande.

The song is one of four new tracks included on “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,” the deluxe expansion of Swift’s 2025 album. The new edition arrived Sept. 25, and listeners wasted little time finding the additional material.

In fact, the chart success was hardly limited to “Patient Zero.” Fellow new tracks “Cleveland!,” “Babylon” and “Pink Clouding” all opened inside the top 10 of both Billboard global rankings.

That sweep helped Swift reach 47 career top 10 songs on the Global 200, moving her past Drake for the most since the chart began. She also increased her record on the Global Excl. U.S. ranking to 34 top 10 entries.

The international showing comes alongside another major domestic victory. “Patient Zero” also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Swift’s 16th career leader on the flagship U.S. singles chart.

Swift also put considerable visual muscle behind the release. She directed the “Patient Zero” music video, which stars Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell alongside the singer. The video premiered during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 27.

Between its streaming totals, sales and simultaneous success across multiple rankings, “Patient Zero” has quickly turned a deluxe-album addition into another major chapter in Swift’s chart history.
