Zahara Jolie has officially made a significant change to her name.
The 21-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has legally changed her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie. A California judge approved the change on Sept. 28, with no objections recorded.
The legal decision follows months of paperwork. Zahara filed to remove Pitt from her surname earlier this year and later completed the required public notice process.
The new name is not entirely new to those who have followed Zahara’s recent public appearances. She has used Zahara Marley Jolie on notable occasions, including her graduation from Spelman College. She also introduced herself under that name when she joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in 2023.
Zahara is one of several members of the Jolie-Pitt family who have taken steps to change their surnames.
Shiloh previously received approval to change her name after filing a petition when she turned 18 in 2024. Maddox also recently received legal approval to change his surname from Jolie-Pitt to Jolie.
Their younger sister Vivienne has taken a similar step. After turning 18 in July, she filed a petition seeking to change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. Her court hearing is scheduled for November.
Jolie and Pitt share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox.
The former Hollywood couple separated in 2016 following a relationship that lasted more than a decade. They had married in 2014 and ultimately finalized their divorce in December 2024.
For Zahara, the latest court decision makes official a name she had already been using publicly, turning a personal choice into a legal one.
