DragonForce are entering a dramatically different chapter as the power metal veterans prepare to release their 10th studio album with a revamped lineup and two new voices behind the microphone.
The band’s self-titled DragonForce album is scheduled for release on March 19, 2027, and will introduce a vocal combination of Alessio Garavello and Alissa White-Gluz.
Garavello recently joined the group as Marc Hudson temporarily steps away while dealing with tinnitus. White-Gluz brings another distinctive voice to the lineup following a decade as the frontwoman of Arch Enemy.
The changes extend beyond the microphone. Rhythm guitarist Billy Wilkins has also joined DragonForce, adding another new component to a band that has spent decades building its reputation around high-speed guitar work and technically demanding metal.
Producer Jens Bogren has been working with the group on the upcoming record, which guitarist Herman Li sees as an opportunity to push DragonForce into fresh territory.
Rather than treating album number 10 as simply another entry in the catalog, the band approached the project with the ambition it would bring to a debut. Li has indicated that years of accumulated experience went into the new material, with the musicians focused on advancing their playing and creating something that stands apart from previous DragonForce records.
The first taste of that approach comes with “Hunger of the Beast,” the newly released song accompanying the album announcement. DragonForce also unveiled a live performance video for the track, giving listeners an early look at how the reconfigured band operates together.
White-Gluz has described working with DragonForce as an opportunity to combine the strengths of musicians with different styles, with speed and aggression becoming key ingredients in the new lineup’s sound.
Fans will not have to wait until the album arrives to see the next era of DragonForce in action.
The group is heading across North America this fall for a tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of Inhuman Rampage, the 2006 album that became one of the defining releases of its career. The run begins November 13 in San Diego and concludes December 13 in Los Angeles.
That gives DragonForce an unusual balancing act heading into 2027: celebrating one of the biggest milestones from its past while simultaneously introducing one of the most significant lineup transformations in its history.
With new singers, a new guitarist, a new album and fresh material already arriving, DragonForce appear determined to make their second decade after Inhuman Rampage considerably louder than a nostalgia trip.
