Television history will share the spotlight with some of today’s biggest stars when the 78th Emmy Awards take over Los Angeles on September 14.
The first wave of presenters features a particularly nostalgic attraction: a reunion of Charlie’s Angels stars Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd during the landmark show’s 50th anniversary year.
Jackson and Smith helped launch the ABC series in 1976, while Ladd joined the cast following Farrah Fawcett’s departure after the first season. Five decades later, the actresses remain closely associated with a show that became one of television’s defining pop culture hits of the era.
Their Emmy appearance will not be their first reunion of the anniversary year. Jackson, Smith and Ladd also came together earlier in 2026 for a Charlie’s Angels celebration at PaleyFest LA.
Another beloved television franchise will have its own moment at the Emmys. Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz, forever linked to fans as Buffy Summers and Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, are both scheduled to serve as presenters.
The pair became one of television’s most recognizable supernatural couples during Buffy’s original run, with Boreanaz eventually taking his character into the spinoff series Angel. Their upcoming appearance arrives as Buffy approaches another milestone, with the series turning 30 in 2027.
The Emmys are not relying entirely on nostalgia, however.
Zendaya is part of a packed presenter roster that also includes Florence Pugh, Sally Field, Amy Poehler, Jon Hamm, Keke Palmer, Macaulay Culkin, Alan Cumming, Niecy Nash-Betts, Julianna Margulies, Dan Levy, Annie Murphy, David Harbour, Linda Cardellini, Amanda Peet and others.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay will oversee the festivities as host.
Between milestone reunions and a presenter list spanning several generations of television and film talent, this year’s ceremony is shaping up to celebrate more than the current awards race. It will also offer a reminder of just how much television history can fit onto one stage.
The 78th Emmy Awards will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday, September 14, on NBC and Peacock.
