Barry Manilow has postponed the opening stretch of his upcoming arena tour as he continues recovering from early-stage lung cancer, putting his health ahead of a return to the stage.
The veteran entertainer announced that a series of concerts scheduled between late February and mid-March will no longer take place after receiving medical advice from his surgeon. While eager to resume performing, Manilow said recent efforts to rebuild his endurance have shown he still needs more recovery time.
According to the singer, he has been exercising regularly in hopes of regaining the stamina required for a full-length concert. However, he admitted he has been unable to sing more than a few songs consecutively before needing to stop. Following a medical evaluation, his surgeon concluded that performing a demanding arena schedule would be too much at this stage of his recovery.
Although disappointed by the setback, Manilow said he accepts that his health must come first. He thanked fans for their patience and expressed confidence that he will return when he is physically ready to deliver the performances audiences expect.
The postponed dates include several arena appearances across the United States. New performance dates have not yet been announced, and ticket holders are encouraged to watch for updates from official sources.
