Godsmack Welcomes Mike Mangini Behind the Drum Kit

Godsmack has made another significant lineup change, bringing acclaimed drummer Mike Mangini into the fold as the band’s latest touring member.

Mangini stepped behind the drum kit during a June performance in Riverside, Missouri, marking his first appearance with the veteran hard rock group. His arrival follows the departure of Wade Murff, whose time with the band ended after a relatively brief stint earlier this year.

The addition gives Godsmack one of rock’s most respected drummers. Mangini built an impressive reputation through his years with progressive metal powerhouse Dream Theater, earning praise for his speed, precision, and technical ability. His experience adds another accomplished musician to a band that continues to evolve while remaining active on the road.

The lineup now features vocalist and guitarist Sully Erna, bassist Robbie Merrill, guitarist Sam Koltun, and Mangini on drums. The change comes in the middle of the band’s ongoing “The Rise Of Rock” tour, where Godsmack is sharing the stage with Stone Temple Pilots and Dorothy.

Although lineup changes can present challenges for any long-running act, Godsmack has continued moving forward with an emphasis on live performances. Mangini’s arrival provides stability behind the kit while introducing fans to a fresh dynamic during the current tour.

For concertgoers, the move represents an opportunity to see one of hard rock’s most successful modern bands joined by a drummer whose résumé and musicianship have earned widespread respect across the rock and metal world.
