Charli XCX is continuing the rollout for her upcoming album Music, Fashion, Film with the release of “Camera,” a cinematic new single accompanied by an ambitious music video featuring French actor Vincent Cassel.
Rather than placing herself at the center of the action, Charli takes on the role of a film director while Cassel plays an actor caught in a demanding production. The story unfolds on a desert movie set where a dramatic crash sequence is filmed over and over as technical mishaps and production delays frustrate the exhausted star.
Directed by frequent collaborator Aidan Zamiri, the video is presented as a continuous shot, creating an immersive behind-the-scenes feel that blurs the line between filmmaking and performance. Charli appears throughout the production, quietly orchestrating events from behind the camera instead of dominating the screen.
Musically, “Camera” offers a more restrained and introspective sound than many fans came to expect during the Brat era. Built around guitar textures and atmospheric production, the track explores themes of self-reflection and artistic identity while continuing the stylistic evolution that has defined her recent work.
The single joins previously released songs including “Rock Music,” “SS26,” and “Wink Wink” as previews of Music, Fashion, Film, which arrives later this week.
