U2 has officially launched the next chapter of its career with the release of “Street of Dreams,” the first single from the band’s upcoming studio album.
The new song marks U2’s first preview of an album featuring all-new material since 2017’s *Songs of Experience*. While the album’s title and release date have yet to be announced, the band has confirmed it is scheduled to arrive later this year.
The single arrives alongside a music video filmed in Mexico City, where Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. performed atop a specially decorated school bus surrounded by enthusiastic fans. Production took an unexpected turn when a powerful thunderstorm knocked out the filming generators. Rather than halt the shoot, a nearby family welcomed the band into their apartment, allowing the crew to continue filming from the home’s balcony.
“Street of Dreams” continues a productive year for the Irish rock legends. Earlier in 2026, U2 surprised fans with the EPs *Days of Ash* and *Easter Lily*, both offering a glimpse of the band’s current creative direction.
The release also highlights the return of drummer Larry Mullen Jr., whose recent health challenges had kept him away from some of the band’s activities. His presence on the new material reunites the classic lineup as U2 prepares for its next full-length release.
According to Bono, the upcoming album has been crafted as an energetic collection of songs designed to come alive on stage, reinforcing the band’s reputation for turning studio recordings into powerful live experiences. With “Street of Dreams” now available, anticipation is growing for U2’s first new studio album in nearly a decade.
