Lil Wayne fans expecting to see the rap icon open the latest leg of his “20 Years of Carter Classics” tour were left disappointed after the artist failed to appear for a scheduled performance in Bangor, Maine.
The concert at Maine Savings Amphitheater began as planned with fellow rapper 2 Chainz taking the stage for the opening set. Afterward, a DJ entertained the crowd as fans waited for Lil Wayne’s scheduled appearance later in the evening.
Instead of the headlining performance, concertgoers were informed shortly before 11 p.m. that the show had ended and Lil Wayne would not be performing. Venue officials apologized to attendees, calling the situation an unprecedented event for the promoter.
The unexpected cancellation sparked frustration among fans, including many who had traveled long distances to attend what was expected to be the opening show of the tour’s newest run. At the time of reporting, neither Lil Wayne nor his representatives had publicly explained why he did not appear.
