Dua Lipa is taking one of the world’s biggest electronics brands to court after accusing Samsung of using her image to help sell televisions without permission.

The Grammy-winning pop star has filed a lawsuit in California seeking at least $15 million in damages, claiming the company placed her likeness on packaging for televisions sold across the United States. According to the complaint, the image appeared on the display screen pictured on the outside of Samsung TV boxes, giving shoppers the impression that Lipa had endorsed the products.

At the center of the dispute is a backstage photograph reportedly taken during the 2024 Austin City Limits festival. Court filings state that Lipa owns the rights to the image and never approved its use in Samsung’s retail marketing campaign.

The singer’s legal team argues that the unauthorized use damaged her carefully managed commercial brand. The lawsuit claims Lipa is highly selective about partnerships and endorsements, working only with companies and campaigns that align with her image and business strategy.

Attorneys for the artist also allege Samsung ignored repeated requests to stop using the image after the issue surfaced in 2025. The filing includes screenshots of fan reactions online, with several users reportedly saying the packaging influenced their decision to purchase the TVs.

Samsung has declined to comment publicly on the case while litigation remains active.
